I don’t know about you, but my January is always a casual month.
Not only am I “cleaning up” and doing “Dry January”, but I’m also cleaning out my wardrobe and wearing items that are casual and comfortable but chic at the same time.
I’m looking at all the things I have yet to wear this winter and wondering if I’m actually going to put them on? Like many of you, I have suffered from the “I wear 20% of my closet 80% of the time” syndrome. Because of my profession, I’m very conscious of this, so I try to rotate as best I can. It doesn’t always work because I do get sick of my clothes and I DO want new items here and there.
My challenge for you this month is to get in your closet and try to put on something EVERY DAY that you have not worn yet this season. You can absolutely do it!
If you put on something and you don’t like the way it looks, don’t bother keeping it because you’re not going to wear it tomorrow or next week or next year. You didn’t like it this time and you won’t like it next time.
I’m TOTALLY going for it.
ONE THE OTHER HAND……if decide I need to add a few things, I’m going to choose from the items below because…..well….I like them -ha!

You know that I’m a denim girl and this pair, the TROUSER JEAN by J.Crew is a nice step up (and comfortable) from the ones you wear on a daily basis. They’re PERFECT with my fav Veronica Beard CARLOTTA slides and the DARING J.Crew JACKET that really can serve as a sweater. How about that ULLA JOHNSON LUELLA BAG? Great color!
I’ll never not have a PERFECT STRIPED SHIRT by J.Crew because you can wear them all year round. My daily jeans are usually a dark cropped flare like THESE, THESE and THESE, my personal favs. I am obsessed with these VINCE WARREN COURT SNEAKERS because they have a tiny built-in wedge – kinda like what Tom Cruise wears – you can’t see it! HA! I don’t have a black bag, so I figured THIS ONE by MM6 Maison Margiella is classic yet chic at the same time.
So, searching around for stuff, I saw THIS STAUD BLACK BAG and I like it too! Decisions..decisions…..
These little Tory Burch Bow BALLET FLATS are super in and I love the color combo with the cropped flared H&M BLACK JEANS. These are amazing because you can wear them with flats during the day and then a heel at night. Show those ankles, girls! More stripes….I know, but this H&M SWEATER is so perfect! Dang it. Love the classic ANNIKA INEZ SILVER EARRINGS. I have to choose what I love when it comes to silver because I don’t wear a ton of it. This pair is pricey….but darling.
You’ve seen me in these JAZMIN SHORTS from Veronica Beard with the matching jacket. I swear I love them. They’re great for a warm weather gals paired with these Tory Burch GOLD BALLET FLATS but us freezing babes can totally put on a pair of SHEER BLACK TIGHTS and wear them with a cute SLINGBACK. I’m on the hunt for aviator-style SUNGLASSES because they’re such a throwback. They’re tough to find because some of them dip kinda low on my face and I’m trying to make my face go UP….not down. This pair seems pretty perfect. I’m going to wear my PUFF SLEEVE DENIM JACKET until I’m 80, I can tell you that. It’s just an elevated look with white jeans, over a dress or with these shorts. This one is pricey…but worth it! Need a great WHITE TANK – I got you.
Well now, this casual Leset Zoe TOP and Zoe PANTS can be worn around the house or to work – either way, you’re chic and comfy at the same time – GOALS. Everybody and their BROTHER has THESE Isabel Marant Beth SNEAKERS and they rave about them….so maybe it’s time we all try the trend. They’re buying THESE too. Who are “they”? I don’t know – every Sally, Sue and Freida in America, I guess. What about this BAG by Stuad? Love the color and the shape is kinda cool! The MADEWELL TRANSPORT BUCKET BAG is a REALLLLY great price and more casual.
Another casual look you could war to work or to lunch with a friend. I don’t see you lounging around the house in THIS Line & Dot Rianne Sweater Dress, but you’re wearing a dress which feels “dressed up” without being “dressed up”. The color is great. If you like a lower BOOTIE, this Western Wally one is fun but you could also wear a high boot like THESE if you don’t want to wear tights or a bare leg. By the way, if you like to show your waist (I’m a fan for most people), you can use this ZIMMERMAN TWISTED BUCKLE BELT to do it 🙂
