Oh, you guys…….
Palm Beach is sure a GREAT place to have a wedding!
Our step-nephew and his DARLING bride were married on Saturday at the amazing Everglades Club. There was not ONE thing missing from this wedding…..if anything there was more than you could ever imagine!
The festivities began on Thursday and didn’t lasted until the bitter end when we took off on a 5pm flight home to Boulder.
Check out all the fun below 🙂
PS – I know, I know…..there are a lot of pictures of ME, but oh well…you’ll get the idea 😉
Thursday morning, we took a 7AM flight and by the looks of my hair, I’m sure you can tell – ha!
This picture is kinda funny because I was watching The Brady Bunch youtube video of, “Mom always said, ‘Don’t play ball in the house!’” and laughing OUT LOUD. I had to search it because if you saw my Instagram stories, you know that I had a similar spouting situation with a jar and it reminded me of that video. Anyhoo, Bing thought it was funny so he got me on video and sent it to our kids. They all died and I’m sure if you WATCH THIS, you will too.
We arrived at our fabulous hotel, The Brazilian Court. If you have not been there, it is worth checking out because it’s SMALL and fantastic. It’s not some giant place with convention halls etc. It’s understated, which I LOVE. Fun fact, the restaurant inside the hotel is Cafe Boulud…..if you know, you know. Outside, we got this one picture with my arm stretched out (why? not sure) and it gives you a little peak into what the outdoor lounge area next to the bar is like. It’s all white and black and just plain FAB.
Next, we were off to a local Club for a family dinner with three of Bing’s four sisters and their husbands and Bing’s FANTASTIC mom.
I absolutely SCORED by marrying into this family. Four FUN as heck sisters (with amazing husbands) could have been a tough situation to join, but it has been incredible – I adore each one of them.
I wish I could show you the inside of this lounge area and dining room at this amazing club, but they do not allow phones, so you’ll just have to imagine the bamboo-like, Florida-y vibe that they have created. It’s beyond words and any club that has a three piece jazz ensemble every night is my kind of place.
Anyhoo, I decided I’d just dress up since it is the holidays and all. I wore my FAV $39 (yes, you read that right) dress from EXPRESS! It is the perfect holiday dress and it is an appropriate length for when you need to be a little more covered up :). I paired it with my ultimate BLACK PATENT LEATHER PUMP that did NOT disappoint. Comfy-city! (….and you know I have a discount code, of course – angelah15 🙂 )
I’m not the BEST traveler there is…..jet lag is a real thing for me, unfortunately. But, the good news is that I was able to get a great green juice with lunch at the INCREDIBLE Sant Ambroeus. If you have never been to one of their locations…..I suggest you try it. But, truth be told, you might need to save a few pennies because it’s not the cheapest place in the world. It’s worth it though – that I promise.
What really did the trick for me was a late afternoon run with Bing and a jump in the ocean with my sister-in-law, Fay. She was game and so were we. The ocean was a bathtub, but I jumped out because I’m afraid of jellyfish and riptides – do you blame me?
Next was the “Welcome Party” that all the “kids” do now. It’s a mini wedding basically – lol. Apparently, the invitation said, “wear color”, but I guess I missed it because I showed up in my fav BLACK (lol) jumpsuit by A.L.C. I was worried I would be cold because the event was outside. Turned out, I was pretty hot – that’s a party foul for sure. :).
But, I was able to shake it off with a giant dirty martini, great food, fun young people-watching and great music. There was a macaroni and cheese bar and let’s just say, it definitely wasn’t Kraft – ha! We headed home after that! I had to ride in the “way back” (as we called it in the 70’s) of our station wagon rental car – it was kinda funny. We should have put on our party pants and gone to the hotel bar because apparently Michael Strahan and other famous guys were in there on a boy’s golf trip. Oh well……we did end up seeing them the next night.
The wedding began at 4:30 SHARP with a heartfelt and beautiful ceremony. The couple’s giant bulldog walked down the aisle and it was adorable.
I opted NOT to wear my fancy pink Oscar skirt because I found a …..get this…..pink dress at Dillards. Yep! I was in the mall and I saw the dress department right there so I popped in .
Here’s a little teaching moment….. you do NOT have a to spend a fortune on a formal dress. This place had about ten different dresses that I would have been HAPPY to wear. I chose THIS ONE because I love the color and it felt very Florida-like to me. I did bring a back-up which was long sleeve, black sequins. Thank GOD I didn’t wear it…..I would have passed out. Originally, I was going to wear THIS BODYSUIT with my long pink Oscar skirt, but I called the BFF and she said the Dillards bargain actually looked better. Seriously, this Dillards designer Antonio Melani makes some really great formal wear like THIS, THIS and THIS. Check out THIS BRAND – those are some great-looking dresses that are also a bargain!
But, on the note of not spending a ton……as long as a dress FITS and you feel GOOD in it – then buy it! Dresses come in all sizes, right? As long as you know what your style is (maybe you need my online course to find out) what neckline and shapes look best on you….you can wear anything!
The night ended with everyone going outside for a silent disco. Have you ever been to one? Well, let’s just say, it is the BEST way to have a late-night party without disturbing the neighbors. It also allows you to lose your inhibitions and dance because the beat is right there, loud in your ears. Watch THIS to see how the silent disco works……I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this part of the night.
The fun ended (or continued, I should say) with a beautiful “Hair of the Dog” brunch by the pool at The Colony Palm Beach Hotel. Again, if you have NOT been there, it is something else – a total Florida throw-back!
The pink and white plunge pool was exactly what these youngsters needed 🙂 I was just happy to be munching on egg croissant sandwiches and a tequilla Bloody Mary which was a new one for me. I only got through half of it 🙂
Everyone was recapping the night and talking about how AMAZINGLY beautiful the bride looked and how dang handsome the sweet groom is. They are a match made in heaven and we are SO glad to be a part of their world 🙂
Lastly, I took some fun pictures at Veronica Beard, St. John, Lilly Pulitzer and Ala von Auersburg. I’ll be sharing those with you in case you are in need of something fun in the closet 🙂
Let’s end on a fun note….a beautifully perfect pink palm tree…..that’s my kind of palm tree :0
