“What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”
Don’t you love that song by Ella Fitzgerald? It’s SUCH a classic.
The other classic in our family is, “Holiday Inn” starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. We watch that movie on any holiday….not just Christmas :). I will say, we missed it this year, so if by chance I’m home on NYE, this is what I’ll be watching by the fire with a glass of champagne.
What I love is that the women were SO beautifully dressed back then – the men too! These were elegant times when it came to fashion and beauty. People were dressed and they CARED about looking nice all the time. I don’t think either of these ladies would have hopped on an airplane in the outfits women wear today :(.
I also just LOVE the dancing in this movie. I would give ANYTHING to be able to dance with such elegance and grace. They’re all so light on their feet……and they don’t try to lead like I do – hahah!
Anyhow, New Year’s Eve is a great excuse to dress up in your sequins and put on your best jewels no matter where you are or what you’re doing! Pull out that special something because really……when else are you going to wear that sparkly dress??
This year, our friends in Harbor Springs are having their annual party that includes a bunch of our friends and kids too! It’s funny because the kids are all VERY much grown, so the party has basically more than doubled in size over the years :). It’s really fun and you see all kinds of outfits! I’m not sure what I’ll be wearing, but it could be jeans or a sequin jumpsuit or maybe a fun skirt and sweater. I’ll just have to wait and see what kind of mood I’m in :0
I’ve been thinking about other destination NYE looks and I found a couple that might appeal to you….wherever you are! Check it all out!
PS – I was VERY technically challenged today with this blog post. Forgive me! It’ll be a beaut next time 🙂
Destination New Year’s Eve!
Who’s going on a ski vacation this year? Well, you may not show up at a fancy ski vacation party in this outfit, but you can sure celebrate “apres ski” in your cozy boots, jacket and ski pants, right? Don’t forget to put your goggles on your head….it makes you look like a real ski bunny 🙂 Click HERE to see other options 🙂
I would say that THIS is the perfect lounge at home NYE outfit, right? You could dress for dinner and then do a quick change to sit by the fire and watch, “Holiday Inn”! Click HERE to see other options!
Another chilly weather destination outfit. I think I have my calling for this year – ha! LOVE a big warm teddy bear coat with booties and leggings. I stand by my rule that “Leggings are NOT pants” but in this case, with a big sweater or coat to cover your behind, you’ll be just fine. This is the perfect casual chilly NYE night outfit. Click HERE to see!
Here’s a look for all you ladies headed for the big city and the clubs! It’s fitting to wear a shorty dress with some fancy earrings and a fur wrap, don’t you think? Click HERE to see more!

Back to “Holiday Inn” – hahah. I promise you, one day I WILL find boots just like this that I can wear with my mink coat, mink hat and my mink “muff” or whatever that is that Linda Mason is holding in her hand. I am OBSESSED with this outfit and have been since I was a little girl. I’ve only ever found THESE and THESE and I did find two pairs on The RealReal HERE and HERE, but nothing has been perfect…..so I wait.
